Media Relations Manager c£35,000

The Work Foundation is the UK’s pre-eminent think tank for the world of work. We seek to influence employers and policymakers to improve the quality of working life while enhancing the effectiveness of organisations.

We are recruiting a Media Manager within our External Affairs team to lead and co-ordinate our engagement with the press and with broadcasters.

The role
You will devise and implement The Work Foundation’s media strategy, liaising and building effective relationships with the press and broadcast journalists. An important aspect of this position is to raise our public profile, managing the launch of our publications and writing articles to increase public awareness of our research, consultancy and public policy work.

The person
As you will be working in a fast-moving External Affairs department often responsible for the quick turnaround of written material and press releases, a journalistic background would be a major advantage. You will have work experience within corporate affairs, press or public relations and have the ability to work effectively with our organisational partners, stakeholders and clients. Some specialist knowledge of one or more of the following subject areas would be useful: work and management; the public sector and public service reform; health and wellbeing; public policy or macroeconomics. You will be able to provoke and contribute to debate and will help to co-ordinate The Work Foundation’s wider thought leadership.
